School Lunch

School dinner - Lunches cost £2.70 a day however all Infants are automatically entitled to free school meals. All meals served in school are cooked on site by our kitchen staff. All food cooked on site follows strict Cheshire East Council food guidelines.
The Cheshire East Catering team's policy is to...
- not use food that contain certain additives that may have an adverse effect on a small number of children
- follow Government nutritional guidelines
- provide food for children who require a special diet from diabetic needs to those with food allergies
- cater for cultural or religious diets by offering vegetarian food for example
- serve fair trade products whenever possible
- keep salt additions to a minimum
- reduce where possible the amount of fat in products.
Packed Lunch - you are very welcome to provide your child with a packed lunch or a combination of both if you would prefer. The kitchen are happy to accommodate set meal patterns eg Monday, Wednesday, Friday : Packed Lunch, Tuesday, Thursday: School dinners as long as you inform the office. If you have any changes to your child's meal pattern, please let the office know 2 weeks in advance (this is because the kitchen order their food 14 days in advance). Packed Lunch guide
Breaktime snacks - Children in Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 are entitled to a free piece of fruit everyday and free milk everyday until the month of their 5th birthday. After this parents can purchase milk in Key Stage 1 at a cost of 30p per day (payments must be received termly).
Key Stage 2 also have the opportunity to purchase a snack at morning break if they would like to.
Free School Meals - Although all Infants are eligible for Universal Infant Free School Meals (UIFSM) many families of junior children are often entitled to Free School Meals but are unaware that they are or even how to claim.
Those eligible for Income Related free school meals are also entitled to a Uniform voucher whereby they can have 2 sweatshirts/cardigans, 1 PE T-shirt and a book bag for free.

Special Diets - If your child has intolerances or allergies which affect their diet, please let the office know.
Cheshire East Council has advised that parents should provide written authorisation to the school. This information should be in the form of a letter from the GP and/or Dietician which confirms diagnosis or states the actual needs of the diet.
Our cook is very happy to work with you to devise an alternative menu to work with your child's needs.
